Meet the Engel Institute Mentors

Todd B. Engel, DDS
Owner, Founder

Dr. Todd B. Engel is originally from Van Nuys, California and has resided in Orange County, California since 1997. He is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry where he also received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Engel is a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and maintains active membership status with the following associations:  Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, California Dental Association, and Orange County Dental Society.

Dr. Engel has extensive experience in Dental Implant Rehabilitation, CT Guided Surgical Design, Complex Treatment Planning as well as Full Mouth Rehabilitation. Dr. Engel has hosted live radio, authored several articles and has been a featured keynote speaker both nationally and internationally on topics such as Dental Implants and Restorative Applications, Digital Radiography, CBCT – Cone Beam Technology, Ridge Augmentation and Socket Preservation, Treatment of the Edentulous Patient, Current Dental Materials as well as Comprehensive Treatment Planning on Medically Compromised Patients. In 2005 Dr. Engel’s life long dream of creating a learning institution where he could share, teach and motivate other dental professionals was realized by the inception of the Engel Institute. The Institute has grown to all over the US though now includes 3 flagship locations with faculty both nationally and internationally and has trained well over 8,000 dental professionals in its short tenure.

Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD

Dr. Kosinski is an Affiliated Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and serves on the editorial review board of Reality, the information source for esthetic dentistry He is the  Associate Editor of the AGD Journals and most recently became the editor of Implants Today, the implant publication of Dentistry Today. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and received his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.


 In 2017 Dr. Kosinski received the Academy of Dentistry International's Humanitarian Award.​ He has received many honors including Fellowship in the American and International Colleges of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International, is a member of OKU and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Kosinski was the University of Detroit, Mercy School of Dentistry Alumni Association’s “Alumnus of the Year” in 2001 and most recently received the Academy of General Dentistry’s Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition. Dr. Kosinski has placed over 14,000 dental implants, published over 200 articles on the surgical and prosthetic phases of implant dentistry and was a contributor to the textbook, Principles and Practices of Implant Dentistry and Dental Implantation and Technology.

Troy L. Keyes, DDS

Dr. Keyes is originally from Watertown, South Dakota. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2002, where he graduated in the top third of his class. After dental school, he was the Chief Dental Resident in the General Practice Residency program at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.  Dr. Keyes was then the dental officer on-board the amphibious ship, USS Tortuga from 2003-2005.  Dr. Keyes then returned to South Dakota where he worked in private practice and in public health practicing General and Cosmetic Dentistry with an emphasis on operative dentistry, emergency dental care and exodontia.  He also instructed for the Center for Family Medicine in Sioux Falls, SD where he taught dental anesthesia to family practice residents.  In 2010, he purchased a private practice in Madison, South Dakota where he completes all aspects of dentistry for his rural community of Madison, with his favorite discipline being that of implant dentistry.  Dr. Keyes also works with South Dakota Partners for Prevention teaching local physicians and residents, and presents to South Dakota Medical Assistants Association on Dental Health and its effects on the body. Since completing the Engel curriculum in 2013, Dr. Keyes has been an integral member of the Engel Institute, Dental Implant Training faculty mentoring & supporting the Charlotte, North Carolina location. 


Dr. Keyes is active in receiving continuing education and has logged more than 800 CE hours since the completion of dental school. Dr. Keyes has obtained CE from: Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, Combat Casualty Care Course (Field Medicine Training at the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute), and American Orthodontic Society - Comprehensive Orthodontic Education. He is a former Faculty Cub Member at Spear Institute and has completed all seminars (Creating Esthetic Excellence, Demystifying Occlusion, Treating the Worn Dentition, The Art of Treatment Planning and Case Presentation) and the following workshops: Facially Generated Treatment, Planning and Occlusion in Clinical Practice. Dr. Keyes is a standing member of American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, Southeastern District Dental Society, American Orthodontic Society, and US Navy Reserves.

Darryl Burke, DDS

Dr. Burke was born and raised in the Chicago area. He graduated high school in 1985. He attended Loyola University - Lake Shore campus, in 1988, where he decided to take the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) exam and apply for dental school before he received his Bachelor of Science. He got accepted and received his dental degree in 1992 from Loyola School of Dentistry in Maywood, Illinois. After graduation, he practiced with his father and concentrated on full mouth rehabilitation and occlusion. In his spare time, he was the dentist for the town of Cicero, Illinois. There he spent his time helping the less fortunate doing lots of surgery by removing infected teeth, pediatric dentistry and stabilizing patients that needed the help. In 1996, Dr. Burke moved to California. In 1998, he started his own practice focusing on general, family and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr Burke has been restoring implants since 2000. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Contra Costa Association and the California State Dental Society. He is a graduate of the Engel Institute, where he learned surgical placement of implants, advanced surgical and grafting techniques to full mouth reconstruction utilizing guided surgery by the use of Cone Beam technology and surgical stents provided by companies such as Anatomage. He has performed many successful surgeries involving immediate extraction and placement, implant placement, and all-on-4 placement by using guided surgery techniques. Dr. Burke is also a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.​

Avi Schetritt, DMD

Dr. Avi Schetritt is a board certified Periodontist. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Dr. Schetritt grew up in Montreal, Canada, where he completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University. He then went on to receive his dental degree (DMD) at the University of Montreal. After two years in general private practice, Dr. Schetritt returned to school, this time to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada, where he completed his periodontal residency program.​ Dr. Schetritt is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI). He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Canadian Academy of Periodontology, the Florida Association of Periodontists and numerous local dental societies and study clubs. ​ 


Dr. Schetritt is Chairperson of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) Table Clinic and Poster Presentations and has served in this capacity for the last several years. He is also a senior reviewer on the editorial board of Implant Dentistry, the official journal of the ICOI.  “Dr. Avi” as he likes to be called, is a devoted educator, and lectures nationally and internationally on soft tissue procedures, bone regeneration and implants. He has also authored several articles and textbook chapters on these topics.

Jedidiah Janisse, DMD, MaCDS, MICOI

Dr. Jedidiah Janisse utilizes his extensive training and experience to treat even the most challenging dental situations. He has been delivering cosmetic, implant, and functional solutions to patients since 2007. Dr. Janisse is especially concerned with helping those with dental anxieties overcome their fear and live life with ideal dental health. For his patients’ benefit, advanced learning and the use of Cerec CAD/CAM and Gallileos CBCT integration the world of dentistry is soaring to new heights and providing amazing transformations in the health of our patients.


He has trained in many, many implant a restorative programs with the top dentists, both nationally and internationally. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with special distinction. Dr. Janisse has received his Mastership status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and has also been awarded the Mastership Level in conscious sedation from the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the College of Sedation in Dentistry recognizing him as an elite member in dental IV conscious sedation.

Vijay Parashar, BDS, MDS, DDS

Vijay P. Parashar, BDS, MDS, DDS, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist currently working as Faculty at Midwestern University, Glendale, AZ. Prior to joining Midwestern University as Associate Professor, Dr Parashar was the Assistant Professor of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences at University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit Michigan. Dr Parashar has been the winner of 2006 Howard R. Raper and 2012 William H Rollins Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Awards given by American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Dr Parashar has received Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, Master of Dental Science from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal. Dr Parashar is on the scientific editorial board of peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Oral Health and Community, India Dentistry, International Journal of Oral Implantology and Clinical Research, India, and American Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, USA. Dr Parashar's positions with ADEA include,: Chair 2010 – 2011, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section, Chair-elect 2009 – 2010, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section and Secretary 2008 – 2009, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section. Dr. Parashar is currently serving on the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Oral Radiology Review Committee; ADEA Council of Faculties; National Board Dental Test Construction Committee and is a CODA Site Visitor.
